AMI Charitable Trust is a registered NGO located in Surat, Gujarat. Established in 2010, the trust has been dedicated to serving the underprivileged and making a positive impact on society. With the motto “Charity begins from Home,” AMI Charitable Trust started its philanthropic journey in its hometown and has since accomplished remarkable achievements.
Vision
The vision of the trust is to create a society where every individual has access to basic necessities and opportunities for growth. Their mission is to empower the less fortunate by providing them with education, healthcare, livelihood support, and other essential resources. Over the years, AMI Charitable Trust has undertaken various initiatives to fulfill its vision and mission.
Accomplishments
One of their significant accomplishments has been providing training to women below the poverty line. Through a partnership with the UCD department of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), the trust taught these women the art of screen printing. Subsequently, these women established a small printing department, creating stationery for different SMC departments. This endeavour not only generated income for the women but also made them self-employed, fostering economic independence.
In 2015-16, the trust adopted schools run by the SMC and made substantial contributions. They donated utensils and provided nourishing meals to the children studying in these schools. Additionally, they organized educational activities and ensured that expectant mothers received proper nutrition and care. By focusing on the holistic development of children and their mothers, AMI Charitable Trust aimed to break the cycle of poverty and provide a brighter future for these families.
Another noteworthy initiative by the trust was the establishment of Aanganwadi centers at construction sites for laborers’ children. Teachers were appointed, along with a caretaker, to educate, engage, and maintain cleanliness for these children. The trust supplied milk and meals, including breakfast and lunch, to ensure their nutritional needs were met. Moreover, they donated cradles for newborns and actively celebrated festivals with the laborers, promoting awareness and inclusivity.
AMI Charitable Trust has also played a pivotal role in the financial inclusion of backward communities. They assisted these communities in opening bank accounts with zero balance, enabling them to access banking services and take a step towards economic stability. Furthermore, the trust has focused on women’s empowerment by imparting skills such as making wax diyas. During Navratri, they organize Sheri Garbas and competitions that witness enthusiastic participation from numerous women. On occasions like Rakshabandhan, AMI Charitable Trust supports women in setting up various stalls, showcasing their talents and promoting entrepreneurship.
In times of crisis, the trust has demonstrated its commitment to serving the community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, AMI Charitable Trust supplied masks and provided food to vulnerable areas where people were struggling due to unemployment.
